Our last day of class will be a special "Instrument Day" and we would love to have several people share an instrument or vocal talent! Of course, performing is optional, but we would enjoy hearing from you, your child, or another family member or friend. They can play an instrument (one of our semester instruments would be amazing!) or sing a solo (a song from this semester would be fabulous!). We welcome any and all performers! I’ll be checking with you to see if you have something to share (and please let me know if you have any questions).

Using scissors requires many of the same fine motor skills as writing and drawing. But, because it requires the more complex ability to use the thumb, index, and middle fingers separately from the pinkie and ring fingers, learning to use scissors strengthens the hand muscles. It also requires both hands to work together, which improves communication between both sides of the brain.

Learning to use scissors requires practice and patience. Fortunately, for many children, the novelty of using scissors makes the challenge fun!

Optional home fun activity: Do the snail spiral scissors skills activity on page 29 of your workbook

Optional home fun activity:

Do the snail spiral scissors skills activity on page 29 of your workbook. For babies who are too young to use scissors, a great alternative is to use this page as a finger tracing activity (...I always suggest pairing activities with the music so sing or listen while doing it!)

(Remember, these activities are optional but can be a great bonding experience to do with your child during the week.)
