This semester has been so much fun that it’s hard to believe there are only 5 more Gold Stars lessons to go! I would love to have you join in me the fall for Brown Teddy Bears! In addition to teddy bears, we sing about bees and learn about weather and seasons.
I have found that creating and singing lyrics to classical music helps children better remember the themes. Here are MY lyrics to the Moon Dance smart moves song (because they aren't official Sound Beginnings lyrics, you won't find them in the lyrics section of the workbook).
Reach up and touch the sky
Reach up and touch so high
Reach up and touch the glowing moon
See the floating clouds
They are so colorful
They like to chase the glowing moon
Wind
Princess on the moon
She sees the clouds
Chasing the moon
She sees them chase the glowing moon
Moon Festival: Time to do your own special dance
Dancing on the moon
Dancing on the moon
See everybody dancing on the moon

Children tend to be divergent thinkers; they can generate many ideas and possibilities from a single situation. Of course some of their ideas are nonsensical, but those wild and unusual ideas are also creative! Allowing children to exercise and express their creativity enhances their general thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
Problem-solving skills are also increased when children are allowed to make choices, and making choices boosts confidence and fosters responsibility. The Aiken Drum activity is particularly valuable as it encourages children to make choices and express their creative nature!
Optional Home Fun Activity: Make the Aiken Drum cutouts on page. 31 & 33 of your workbook
(Remember, these activities are optional but can be a great bonding experience to do with your child during the week.)
